B3. Chiral dynamics with (non)strange quarks

This project focuses on chiral dynamics, with or without strangeness, predominantly in three different settings: meson decays, meson-baryon scattering and meson photo-/electroproduction, and pion-nucleon scattering.  A strong unifying feature is the combination of effective-field-theory methods, which are per se confined to the low-energy regime, with non-perturbative methods like dispersion relations or unitarization prescriptions.  Building on progress in the last funding period, we plan both further systematic improvements and phenomenological applications in all three areas.
